Transaid has launched its 2027 cycle challenge, inviting supporters to take on an unforgettable four-day adventure from Italy to Slovenia while raising vital funds for its road safety and access to healthcare projects.
Taking place from 17-22 May 2027 (including travel days), the challenge will see participants cycle 335 kilometres over four days in the saddle, with 3,640 metres of climbing, from Jesolo Beach, near Venice, to the stunning shores of Lake Bohinj in Slovenia, passing through some of Europe’s most spectacular landscapes along the way.
Maddy Matheson, Head of Fundraising for Transaid, says: “We are very excited to be launching our next cycle challenge, which promises to be an unforgettable adventure. Every mile ridden and pound raised will help Transaid continue to deliver sustainable transport and road safety initiatives, alongside programmes that improve access to healthcare in communities across sub-Saharan Africa.”
Starting on the Adriatic coast, riders will make their way through the agricultural landscapes of Italy’s Tagliamento region before crossing into Slovenia. The route then progresses through picturesque vineyard country and the Soca Valley, before taking in the iconic Napoleon Bridge near Kobarid and the climb to Predil Pass, which links Slovenia and Italy and reaches an elevation of 1,156 metres. The final day takes cyclists past Lake Bled, through Alpine scenery before a memorable finish at Lake Bohinj.

Entries are now open to both teams and individual riders. The registration fee is £249, and participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £2,350 to take part. The costs include twin-share accommodation, meals, airport transfers, and transportation of luggage and bike boxes.
