- 16 industry teams compete in fourth annual Transaid Cup football tournament

More than £24,000 was raised at the fourth annual Transaid Cup on Thursday 9 July, bringing together companies from across the transport and logistics sector for a day of football, networking and fundraising in support of Transaid’s programmes.
Jointly hosted by Transaid corporate members Libra Europe and Microlise, the popular seven-a-side tournament at Ilkeston Town F.C. saw 15 companies brave the sweltering heat on one of the warmest days of the year. Scania were crowned champions, after defeating Iron Mountain in a very close final.
The unrestricted funds raised by participating teams will support Transaid’s life-saving road safety and access to healthcare work across sub-Saharan Africa, with additional event sponsorship provided by Gold Sponsor Iron Mountain and Silver Sponsor Michelin.
Reflections from the day
Andree Ball, Marketing Events Manager for Microlise, says: “It has been great to see the Transaid Cup grow year on year. The support from teams, spectators and sponsors this year was incredible, smashing our fundraising total from 2025.”
Mike Sacker, Director of Supply Chain Practice for Libra Europe, says: “We’re proud to have co-hosted this year’s Transaid Cup. It was great to see so many companies take part in what became an intense competition to support a great cause, especially given the extreme temperatures.”
Caroline Barber, Chief Executive for Transaid, says: “We’re so grateful to everyone who took part or cheered from the sidelines. The funds raised will make a real difference, helping us to launch new projects that will save lives. It is always inspiring to see how much the industry supports our goals.”
Strong industry support
Teams were fielded by Asset Alliance Group, Backhouse Jones, Blue Cube, Brigade Electronics, CPT, Dawsongroup, GXO, Iron Mountain, Libra Europe, Michelin, Microlise, Radius, Scania, Samworth Brothers, and trentbarton.
In the last four years, the event has become a highlight of the industry calendar, providing a valuable opportunity for transport and logistics professionals to come together outside the workplace, strengthening relationships and contributing to a shared cause.
