Transaid launches Peak Pursuit 2027

Individuals and teams are being invited to lace up their walking boots with the launch of Transaid’s 2027 trek challenge, Peak Pursuit, which will take on the stunning Edale Skyline route across Derbyshire’s high moorland from 10-12 September next year.

Starting in Buxton, the event will see participants tackle a demanding 32-kilometre trek through the heart of the Peak District, summiting seven of the area’s highest points while raising vital funds to support Transaid’s road safety and access to healthcare initiatives across sub-Saharan Africa.

Maddy Matheson, Head of Fundraising for Transaid, says: “We’re excited to bring back our trek challenge, and offer another way for the industry to get involved in our fundraising activities. Peak Pursuit is designed to be challenging but achievable, bringing together industry colleagues for a dramatic ridge-top trek across some of the Peak District’s most famous landscapes, all while raising unrestricted funds to help us deliver life-saving programmes.”

The challenge

The itinerary kicks off with a welcome briefing and dinner in Buxton on the first day, before setting off early on the morning of day two to tackle a combined 1,250 metres of ascent over a route which is expected to take between nine and 10.5 hours.

Starting high on the slopes of Mam Tor, participants will embark on a spectacular adventure taking in breathtaking views over the Edale Valley and beyond. The route conquers summits including Lord’s Seat, Brown Knoll, Kinder Low, Grindslow Knoll, Ringing Roger, Lose Hill, Back Tor, and Mam Tor, combining challenging climbs with exhilarating ridge walks and unforgettable scenery at every turn.

Maddy adds: “This is more than just a trek – it’s going to be an epic journey across one of the region’s most captivating landscapes, offering a true sense of achievement for everyone who signs up to join us.”

The event will culminate with a celebratory group dinner at the hotel on the second evening, with participants invited to depart Buxton at their leisure on the morning of day three.
