Frank Agyei-Monney named winner of Transaid’s 2026 Victor Simfukwe Award
Transaid is delighted to announce that Frank Agyei-Monney, a road safety advocate and educator in Ghana, has been awarded the 2026 Victor Simfukwe Award, recognising his outstanding commitment to improving road safety in Ghana.
The award was presented at Transaid’s annual Showcase event on Tuesday 20 October, held at Sidara 150 Holborn in London, which brought together more than 100 representatives from the transport, logistics and international development sectors to celebrate the charity’s work and partnerships.
The award is named in memory of Victor Simfukwe, a Zambia-based Project Manager with Transaid who was deeply committed to improving road safety and expanding access to essential services for communities most in need.
Victor tragically lost his life in a road traffic crash in Zambia in 2019. His passion and dedication continue to inspire Transaid’s work, and the award honours individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the charity’s mission of improving road safety and access to healthcare across sub-Saharan Africa.
This year saw an impressive 19 nominees recognised for their contributions, spanning road safety advocacy, professional driver training, fundraising, volunteering and community healthcare.
2026 winner: Frank Agyei-Monney
Frank Agyei-Monney received an outstanding number of nominations from Ghana’s trucking community, reflecting the significant impact of his road safety advocacy and the respect he has earned among professional drivers.
Through social media, television, radio and community outreach, Frank has dedicated himself to educating drivers, pedestrians and other road users about safe driving practices and traffic regulations, based on Ghana’s new HGV driving standard.
His engaging and accessible approach, including communicating in local languages, has helped make vital road safety information more widely understood, empowering road users to make safer decisions.
The remarkable level of support for Frank from Ghana’s trucking community is testament to his influence and commitment to making the country’s roads safer for everyone.

Joint highly commended: Duncan Baldock and Neil Vorleto
Two individuals were also recognised as highly commended for their exceptional contributions to Transaid’s work.
Duncan Baldock was recognised for his outstanding commitment as a Transaid Ambassador, consistently raising awareness of the charity and using his industry connections to open doors to new opportunities. His support has included making valuable introductions, championing fundraising initiatives and helping to establish a new corporate partnership, demonstrating the important role that advocates play in extending Transaid’s reach and impact.
Neil Vorleto was highly commended for his dedication to raising awareness of Ghana’s new professional heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driver training standard. His enthusiastic advocacy and commitment to championing the implementation of the standard reflect a shared ambition to strengthen professional driver training and improve road safety across Ghana.
