Over £22,000 raised at the 2023 Motor Transport Awards

On 6th September, Transaid was delighted to once again be selected as the beneficiary charity for one of the transport industry’s biggest events – the Motor Transport Awards.

The event took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, which hosted more than 1,200 people to recognise the outstanding achievements of the people and operators in the road freight industry.

This year’s event saw the Transaid team – including some of our Ambassadors and supporters raise an incredible £22,423.

During her speech, Transaid’s Chief Executive, Caroline Barber shared updates about Transaid’s programmes, and encouraged guests to participate in the fundraising activities of the evening. The first of these was a live auction run by Motor Transport Editor, Steve Hobson.

Courtesy of Michelin, guests had the opportunity to bid on two exclusive VIP places to the Italian MotoGP at the Iconic Mugello Circuit in Tuscany. A huge thank you to William Paterson CEO of Asset Alliance the winning bidder of that auction lot.

Throughout the night, guests were also able to participate in a silent auction, and bid on a number of experiences and prizes, generously donated by Transaid’s corporate supporters, including:

  • A VIP hospitality trip for two to a UEFA Europa League 2023/24 home game (Hankook)

Guests also had the opportunity to pledge their support to Transaid, with the option to fund training for a motorcycle rider in Kenya, training for female drivers in Ghana or Uganda, or to fund a bicycle for a community health volunteer in Zambia.

Following dinner and the awards presentation, guests were invited to participate at a charity casino sponsored by JOST, with a prize Aspinal of London leather wallet donated by Backhouse Jones Solicitors to the person who cashed in the largest amount of chips at the end of the night.
