Almost £17,000 raised at the Transaid Cup
Microlise Group and Libra Europe once again hosted the Transaid Cup on 4th July, following the immense success of the inaugural tournament last year.
15 teams from 12 companies took to the pitch at Ilkeston Town Football Club in a series of seven-aside matches, with teams from Microlise, Libra Europe, Dawsongroup, Michelin, Brigade Electronics, Boughey Distribution, the Road Haulage Association (RHA), Blue Cube, GXO, Goodyear, MAN and Iron Mountain taking part in the tournament.
At the end of the day, Dawsongroup’s Smart Asset Wanderers team went head-to-head with Brigade Electronics in the final, emerging victorious after a nail-biting match.
The Transaid Cup offered several ways in which to take part, including registering teams to play, spectating, sponsorship, and a raffle. The JustGiving page is still open for donations here.
Transaid’s CEO, Caroline Barber says: “We are incredibly grateful to Microlise and Libra Europe for once again hosting such a fantastic fundraising event, and for making it an even greater success this year.
“We would also like to thank Ilkeston Town F.C., the players and the spectators who took part in the tournament, and who also generously donated to the raffle. All funds raised will directly support our road safety and access to healthcare programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. Thanks to our wonderful supporters, Transaid and our partners can continue to help reduce deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes and improve access to healthcare services.”
Microlise Group’s CEO, Nadeem Raza says: “Following the success of last year’s event, where we raised £15,000, we are delighted to extend our support for Transaid this year.
“Its dedication to increasing road safety and supporting the career development of drivers closely aligns with our own in-house values. We’re hugely proud of our team members for making the day a huge success and we’re looking forward to continuing to support such a worthy cause.”
Transaid is incredibly grateful to all teams who took part, and to Kinaxia for also providing a raffle prize. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
Thank you for supporting Transaid’s mission to transform lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
