
Transaid’s 2024 Christmas Appeal raises more than £32,000
Transaid kicked off the festive season early in September by launching our 2024 Christmas Appeal, once again calling on the transport and logistics industry to support Transaid’s road safety and access to healthcare programmes across sub-Saharan Africa.
Now that we have come to the end of 2024, we’re delighted to announce that the appeal has raised £32,160.
On the corporate side of the appeal, we offered supporting companies the choice of a bronze, silver or gold supporter package. In return, companies received a combination of publicity packages, including social media coverage, personalised e-cards, personalised thanking videos, a digital advent calendar, logo placement in Transaid’s festive adverts in industry media, and logo placement on Transaid’s website.
We are immensely grateful to the fifteen industry publications that generously donated advert space, these included: BIFAlink, Coach & Bus Week, Cold Chain News, Commercial Motor, CILT Focus, Export & Freight, Forwarder Magazine, Logistics UK Newsletter, Motor Transport, RHA Roadway, Route One, Transport & Logistics Magazine, Transport News, UKWA Warehouse, and Warehouse & Logistics News.
We would also like to thank the individuals who supported the appeal through our JustGiving page. On Giving Tuesday, we called on friends and supporters of Transaid to don their cheesiest festive jumpers, snap a picture and send it to us, and make an optional donation to our JustGiving page to be in with a chance of winning a prize on our first ever Transaid Christmas Jumper Day. Richard Bezzant, Marketing Director for the UK and ROI at Michelin, emerged as the clear winner!
In addition to the Transaid Christmas Jumper Day, we shared an interview with Daniel Fiase, a professional driver trainer from Ghana, to show how your support transforms lives.
We are very pleased to report that £610 was raised by individuals this year. Thank you for your generosity, and for spreading festive cheer on our social media channels!
Finally, we would like to thank the 45 companies who generously supported this year’s campaign. Purchasing a publicity package raises crucial funds for all of our programmes across sub-Saharan Africa, when and where funding is needed most. Thanks to you, we can work towards achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and help halve road traffic deaths and injuries, end the epidemic of malaria, and reduce the maternal mortality rate to less than 70 per 100,000 live births.
We are once again humbled by the generosity shown to Transaid throughout the festive period by companies and individuals from across the transport and logistics industry, and we wish you a very happy New Year.
