2021 Christmas Appeal reaches new record

After another extraordinary year for us all, Transaid is very pleased to announce that our 2021 Christmas Appeal raised an outstanding £36,105.

The total raised is over £3,500 higher than the amount last year, making it the most successful Christmas Appeal in Transaid’s history. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us to raise this amount, which will contribute a great deal to our programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Appeal was launched in October 2021 and like previous years, called on both individual donors and companies from across the transport and logistics industry, to help us in the approach to the festive season to reach an ambitious target and transform lives.

The corporate aspect of the Appeal offered companies the choice of bronze, silver or gold supporters’ packages and in return, supporters received a combination of publicity packages which included: social media coverage; personalised e-cards; personalised thanking videos, and logo placement in Transaid’s festive adverts in industry media.

We were proud to run festive ads in a record twelve industry publications, and would like to thank the publications that made this possible through their generous donations of ad space. These included: Coach & Bus Week; Commercial Motor; CILT Focus; Forwarder Magazine; Handling and Storage Solutions; Logistics UK Newsletter; Motor Transport; RHA Roadway; Route One; SHD Logistics; Transport News, and UKWA Warehouse.

Thank you also to the individuals that supported the Appeal through our Just Giving page on Giving Tuesday, a nation-wide charitable giving movement that encourages people to give back to causes that are important to them.

A significant component of the overall total was made up by the record-breaking 47 companies that kindly supported the Appeal. As an organisation working to solve transport challenges in sub-Saharan Africa, we are proud to receive the continued support of the transport and logistics industry.

Speaking about the Appeal’s success, Transaid’s Corporate Partnerships Officer, Stephanie Rukin, said: “The 2021 Christmas Appeal exceeded our expectations, and we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our corporate partners, supporters and individual donors, which resulted in us reaching new records.”

The ongoing challenging times highlight the importance of access to healthcare and safe transport. We are so grateful to our supporters for standing by us this year, and we look forward to continuing our programmes in sub-Saharan Africa, helping more people to access safe transport and to protect themselves from COVID-19.
