Transaid Cycle Zambia Challenge 2009

A fantastic opportunity to experience the real Africa and to see some of Transaid’s work first hand.  Do something amazing by cycling over 450 km to raise over £100,000 to help change the lives of men, women and children across Africa.

Last year Sally ‘Traffic’ Boazman took on the challenge - this year we want you!  DOWNLOAD YOUR REGISTRATION PACK HERE.

Your journey will start in the capital of Lusaka and will be a challenging mix of tarmac and off-road cycling through traditional Zambian villages.   Get a real flavour of a country which has a reputation for having some of the friendliest people in Africa.  We will even get the opportunity to visit some of Transaid's projects so you can see first-hand the impact we are having.

This 10 day adventure is classified as challenging and will include five days of intensive cycling which will end in Livingstone, home to the fabulous Victoria Falls.  On reaching your final destination you will have time to visit this famous landmark and participate in one of the numerous activities on offer, such as safaris, whitewater rafting or bungee jumping.

Funds raised from the Cycle Zambia Challenge will go towards Transaid projects in Zambia such as the Professional Driver Training Project, set to launch in 2009.  The objective of the project is to reduce the number of road crashes in Zambia, which is the third cause of death after HIV/Aids and Malaria.  This will be done in partnership with the Industrial Training Centre (ITC) in Lusaka, by building up the training centre's existing capacity and introducing internationally recognised standards for professional driver training.

The challenge is open to anyone of reasonable fitness and we will give you plenty of support with fundraising and training.  You can also contact Chantelle or Erin on 020 7387 8136 or email marketing@transaid.org if you have any queries or require any further information about the challenge.  REGISTER NOW!

Please note: places are limited to a maximum of 30 participants and will be allocated on a first come first served basis!  Don't miss out on this amazing experience! Sign up now!
