Transaid’s 2020 Christmas Appeal

Last year’s appeal was our most successful ever, raising an incredible £33,185 for our programmes. We were, as always, humbled by the generosity shown by our corporate partners and individual donors who helped us beat our fundraising target by over £8,000.

The circumstances surrounding this year’s appeal are like none we’ve ever faced before, but now more than ever, we need your help. We are rising to the challenge of the pandemic through our programmes in Uganda and Zambia, but we need your support to make sure no one is left behind in the fight against COVID-19.

The Appeal

This year we have secured festive double page spreads in ten industry magazines: Motor Transport, Commercial Motor, SHD Logistics*, Forwarder, CILT Focus, UKWA Warehouse, RHA Roadway, Transport News, Handling & Storage Solutions, and Coach & Bus Week. As a thank you for your help with the appeal, we would like to offer the opportunity of logo placement for your company in each of our adverts.

*SHD Logistics – online publication only, with a follow up article in early 2021 listing all Silver and Gold appeal supporters

As in previous years, you can choose from a variety of Christmas Appeal publicity packages, which include options for an exclusive personalised Transaid Christmas e-card design, and social media coverage, as well as prominent logo placement options in the above publications.

This year we are offering a choice of four e-card designs, which can be placed in your company’s email signature during November and December, used in social media posts, or emailed out to specific contacts. E-cards are a fantastic way to reduce paper waste and are more environmentally friendly than traditional paper cards.

This year we are offering a choice of four designs:

Now more than ever, the world needs safe transport.

In Zambia, we are rising to the challenge of COVID-19 by adapting the proven MAMaZ Against Malaria (MAM) at Scale programme to tackle COVID-19 as well as malaria. Many rural Zambian communities are located far from health facilities. The distance can prove to be a barrier for those seeking healthcare even in normal circumstances, but it is all the more problematic during a pandemic.

Brenda is a Community Facilitator working on MAM at Scale’s COVID-19 response.

Brenda is a Community Facilitator with MAM at Scale in Serenje District, Zambia. It’s her job to to mobilise communities, mentor and coach Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and to create a link between communities and health facilities.

Brenda has seen first-hand the power of CHVs, who are a respected voice in their community: “When CHVs conduct group discussion sessions focused on severe malaria and other childhood illnesses, participation from the community is good. I am happy that the community has accepted our approach and everyone in the community pass through the CHVs when going to the facility.”

We have already trained over 1,300 Community Health Volunteers to respond to the pandemic in their communities, and equipped them with personal protective equipment (PPE).

However, we still need your help to keep our programmes running in these uncertain times. Now more than ever, we must act to make sure that everyone has access to healthcare when they need it most.
