Transaid breaks fundraising record at Multimodal 2022
The generosity of the Multimodal 2022 organisers, and the 860 attendees at the Multimodal Awards evening, resulted in a record-breaking £17,175 being raised for Transaid’s programmes at the recent exhibition and conference.
The funds were raised during a raffle, on the first evening of the fifteenth Multimodal show held at the Vox Centre at the NEC in Birmingham. Transaid was fortunate to once again be selected as the beneficiary charity.
The Multimodal Awards recognise the talent within all sectors of transport and logistics, and the sell-out evening hosted by Nigel Owens – one of the world’s best rugby union referees – was a great success.
During her speech, Transaid’s CEO Caroline Barber thanked the Multimodal organiser for its continued support of Transaid. She shared the news that in the last year alone, over 5,000 drivers have been trained at Transaid’s partner training centres in Africa.
Caroline continued with an update on the MAM@Scale programme – a project designed to ensure that more children have access to life-saving services and medicines when they need it most.
She said: “We have now reached over one million people with our integrated severe malaria and COVID-19 response.
“The overall severe malaria case fatality rate reduction is 87% – showing that as we scale up we can still demonstrate tremendous impact.”
The industry response was humbling – in addition to funds raised from another successful table raffle that offered several fantastic prizes to participants, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a live auction and also to support Transaid via the pledge cards on their tables.
An excellent evening was had by all, and it was inspiring to witness some of the excellence on display from individuals and organisations across all modes of freight transport.
Transaid offers a huge congratulations to all of the well-deserved award winners of the evening, including Transaid corporate member companies the Malcolm Group and Howard Tenens Logistics. A full list of all of the winners can be found here.
Thank you to the following companies for generously donating prizes to the raffle:
- BIFA (Spa break)
- HD Forwarding (Triple supercar thrill)
- Irish Freight Solutions (Golf day)
- The Malcolm Group (Overnight golf stay)
We would also like to thank XPO Logistics for its generous auction prize donation – a VIP Tour de France Experience, which was highly sought after, and sold for over £8,000. A particular thanks to our winning auction bidder – Jan Trevalvan, Group CEO of the DDC Group.
