Transport News Scottish Rewards raises £6,700 for Transaid
Transaid was honoured to attend the 31st Transport News Scottish Rewards Breakfast, held on 21st November 2025 at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel. This prestigious annual event brought together leaders from across Scotland’s transport and logistics sector to celebrate the incredible achievements of companies and individuals over the past year.
Caroline Barber, Transaid Chief Executive, addressed attendees, providing an update on Transaid’s work and sharing powerful testimonies from communities and individuals supported through our programmes.
Caroline shared the story of Martha, Owen, and their young son, Owen Jr, who fell critically ill with a suspected case of severe malaria. With the nearest health facility many miles away and no access to transport, reaching care in time would have been impossible. Thanks to a bicycle ambulance introduced through Transaid and partners’ access to healthcare programmes in Zambia, the family was able to access urgent medical care.
Caroline relayed Owen’s words of gratitude, saying:
“Some of us don’t even have a bicycle, so it’s very hard to reach the health facility, which is far from here. The bicycle ambulance helps us to transport our children and loved ones whenever they are sick and need treatment.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Scotland’s transport and logistics industry, to the Transport News team, and to all attendees who once again championed Transaid’s mission to improve access to healthcare and road safety across sub-Saharan Africa. We are also deeply grateful to IVECO for generously donating a £1,000 John Lewis voucher for the raffle, helping to boost fundraising efforts on the day.
Transaid is proud to work alongside the Scottish transport community in transforming lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
We would also like to congratulate all award nominees and winners, a full list of which can be found here.
