£11,785 raised at London Transport Awards!
Transaid was fortunate enough to once again be the beneficiary charity at the 2016 London Transport Awards, which was held last Thursday at the London Lancaster Hotel. The awards aim is to “recognise excellence in transport and reward innovation and progress for transport initiatives which are really working in London”.
Mike Brown, the new Transport Commissioner for Transport for London, gave an insight on some of the achievements of London’s major infrastructure projects, such as the newly named Elizabeth Line (Crossrail), as well as the challenges facing the city as it sets to hit the population ‘mega city’ status of 10 million people by 2030.
Following on from Mr Brown’s speech, a raffle and auction was held in aid of Transaid. The raffle raised £2,785, and the auction lot- an hour for you and 63 friends aboard Sir Peter Hendy’s classic Routemaster bus, with Sir Peter as your personal bus driver- fetched a staggering £9,000!
Thank you so much to all of the guests for their generous donations and to our winning bidder for their incredible contribution. Thank you also to Transport Times for supporting us once again at the London Transport Awards.
