Statement on the passing of Victor Simfukwe

We are deeply saddened to share news of the loss of our friend and colleague, Victor Simfukwe, in Zambia.

Vic was travelling in a car in Mumbwa, Western Province, which was involved in a fatal collision on Christmas Day.

Vic has been part of the Transaid family since 2007, working as project manager on many of our highest profile initiatives including our partnership with the Industrial Training Centre (ITC) in Lusaka.

He also played a huge part in delivering the successful MAMaZ against Malaria project in rural Zambia, which has dramatically reduced malaria mortality in children under the age of six. Vic has championed the establishment of emergency transport systems for over a decade and has worked for Transaid in Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Uganda.

Vic always brought great energy, loyalty and passion to our work – both in Zambia and when he joined us in London for team meetings and our showcase events – and his sincerity and warmth made an impact on all those lucky enough to work alongside him.

His loss is being felt by us all, and we are thinking of his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Vic, we will miss you.
