Record Amount Raised at the 2018 Motor Transport Awards

On the 4th July 2018, Transaid was fortunate enough to be chosen again as the official charity for the 2018 Motor Transport Awards.

As the largest awards event in Transaid’s calendar, the Motor Transport Awards gives Transaid a chance to reach out some of its most generous supporters, in the impressive surroundings of the Grosvenor House Hotel.

After an impassioned speech by our CEO, Caroline, which detailed the lives that have been changed through the MAMaZ Against Malaria programme, the auction was to become our most successful yet, due to an incredible and surprise act of generosity. After placing the highest bid on a tour of the AMG Petronas F1 Team headquarters Martin Port, CEO of BigChange took to the stage to announce that he would be re-donating his prize back into the auction, thereby raising an extra £9,000 for Transaid! A long-standing supporter, Martin was present on the Director’s Trip to Zambia this March, and spoke of how his experiences of seeing our programmes on the ground first-hand inspired him to go the extra mile in raising funds and awareness for Transaid on the night.

The evening was ultimately a resounding success, with £32,650 being raised in total – £26,000 was raised at the auction alone!

We would like pass on our heartfelt thanks to:
