Over £7580 raised at the FTA Multimodal Awards
On the 1st May at the Vox Resorts World in Birmingham, the first evening of another busy Multimodal show, Transaid was fortunate enough to be the nominated charity for the FTA Multimodal Awards once again. Due to the generosity of the Multimodal and FTA organisers, and all in attendance at the awards, over £7580 was raised!
During her speech, CEO Caroline Barber told guests the inspiring story of Rabbecca, a Community Health Volunteer, which ended with an appeal for donations towards the MAMaZ Against Malaria project. The industry response was humbling – in addition to funds raised from another successful table raffle that offered some fantastic prizes to participants, the incredible overall total from the evening included £3750 in pledges.
These generous donations will be vital in our mission to reduce the number of deaths from Malaria in Zambia, through innovative transport solutions. Since the project began, there has been a 96% reduction in children under six dying of severe malaria in Serenje District, Zambia.
A great evening was had by all, and it was highly enjoyable and inspiring to witness some of the excellence on display from individuals and organisations across all modes of freight transport. Congratulations to all the hard-earned award winners of the evening, including Transaid corporate member companies Malcolm Group and Ligentia.
Thank you to the following companies for generously donating prizes to the raffle:
- UniCarriers (Vineyard experience)
- BIFA (Meal and view from the Shard experience)
- Freightliner (Model locomotive)
- Backhouse Jones Solicitors (A pair of silver cufflinks)
