Over £15,000 raised for Transaid at Multimodal 2023
Transaid was fortunate to once again be selected as the beneficiary charity of funds raised during the Multimodal Awards, which took place on the first evening of the Multimodal Exhibition and Conference, held at the NEC in Birmingham this week.
Thanks to the generosity of the Multimodal 2023 organisers, and the 900 attendees, an incredible £15,400 was raised for our programmes.
The Multimodal Awards, which recognise excellence and best practice across the logistics industry and include six voted for, five judged, and two nominated categories, this year were hosted by racing driver and presenter, Vicki Butler-Henderson.
Transaid’s CEO Caroline Barber, who returned from maternity leave in May, addressed the attendees, and thanked the Multimodal organisers for their continued support of Transaid.
Caroline shared updates about Transaid’s programmes, including that in the last year over 6,000 drivers, as well as 50 trainers have been trained at Transaid’s partner training centres in Africa.
We were pleased to see key Transaid supporters including the Malcolm Group’s Alan Thornton, and BIFA’s Robert Keen recognised for their incredible contributions to the industry, as they both enter retirement this year.
In addition to the funds raised from another successful table raffle, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a live auction and also to support Transaid via the pledge cards on their tables.
Transaid is grateful to the following companies for donating prizes to the raffle:
- BIFA (A six supercar thrill)
- The Malcolm Group (A four-ball at Gleneagles)
- Irish Freight Solutions (A four-ball at the Logistics Leaders Golf day 2023)
- The London Freight Club (A three course meal with a glass of bubbles for two at Michelin starred Galvin La Chapelle)
We would also like to thank GXO Logistics for its generous auction prize donation of four Club Wembley Category A tickets to England vs. Italy in October 2023, which sold for £8,000 after a competitive round of bidding. A particular thanks to our winning auction bidder – Madison Conway, Global Marketing Director of the DDC Group.
Transaid offers congratulations to the award winners of the evening. A full list of all of the winners can be seen here.
