Logistics UK 2022 Awards raises over £6,000 for Transaid

On Thursday, Transaid attended Logistics UK’s 6th Annual Awards reception and celebratory gala dinner as the beneficiary charity and raised several thousand pounds at the event.

Held at the prestigious Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London, the awards (sponsored by Kärcher) recognised and commemorated the businesses and individuals that have made a significant contribution to the logistics industry and wider economy over the last twelve months.

After dinner entertainment was provided by English Actress and quick-witted Comedian, Kerry Godliman, whilst talented Entertainer, Marc Spelmann kept the audience engaged during dinner with a magical performance.

During his speech, David Wells, Chief Executive of Logistics UK welcomed the guests, and praised the industry for adapting in challenging times. He also shared updates from Transaid, including that we have trained over 5,000 drivers at our partner training centres in Africa in the last year, directly helping to reduce death and injury on the roads.

We congratulate Transaid’s long-term partners Howards Tenens on receiving the award for people champion of the year, and also Andrew Malcolm, CEO of The Malcolm Group, who received Logistics UK’s lifetime achievement award.

Transaid is grateful to the attendees at the event for their generous support for the raffle and auction, raising £6,148, which will help support Transaid’s road safety and access to health programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.

Transaid would also like to thank Backhouse Jones, IVECO and the Malcolm Group for their raffle prize donations, as well as the DDC Group for its generous auction prize donation of four Manchester City Tunnel Club Premier tickets, which sold for £3,600 to Carol McCulla, of McCulla Temperature Controlled Logistics.

A huge congratulations to all of the well-deserved award winners of the evening for their fantastic achievements in delivering outstanding work over the last 12 months. A full list of the winners can be found here.
