DAF Trucks and the Transport Association raise £10,000 for Transaid
Transaid were delighted to receive a cheque from corporate member DAF Trucks and the Transport Association yesterday, for an incredible £10,000. These funds were raised by members of the Transport Association, who made donations to Transaid in return for trialling DAF’s New CF 370 rear-steer 26-tonne 6×2 rigid during 2018.
“It’s an extremely effective approach to fundraising and our members have shown that they will get right behind the initiative,” said Nigel Cook, Managing Director at Elddis Transport and previous Chairman of the TA, “DAF Trucks has shown a clear commitment too and I am enormously grateful for the loan of such a well-specc’d truck.”
DAF Trucks became a corporate member of Transaid in 2011 and since then have supported in a range of ways, including taking on the Thame 10k, sponsoring cyclists taking part in Transaid’s cycle challenges, and making donations to Transaid’s annual Christmas Appeal.
“We’re very proud to be supporting the TA in its endeavour,” said Robin Easton, Managing Director at DAF Trucks, “and we’re very pleased to underline our support for Transaid – a partnership we’ve enjoyed with the charity for many years now.”
Transaid’s Head of Fundraising, Florence Bearman, was delighted to accept the cheque on behalf of Transaid at yesterday’s Transport Association meeting. She said, “This money will make a huge difference to Transaid’s projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Thank you to all those companies who took part in the scheme, and particularly to DAF Trucks and the Transport Association for making this happen”.
