Cork to Dublin cycle challenge raises more than £90,000 for Transaid

A team of 48 riders from across the transport and logistics sector have successfully completed our latest fundraising challenge — a spectacular 328 km cycle from Cork to Dublin — raising vital funds to support our road safety and access to healthcare projects across sub-Saharan Africa.

An epic 328 km-long ride across Ireland

Over three days, participants cycled through Ireland’s rolling countryside, heritage towns, and historic landmarks. Supported by headline sponsor Dublin Express, medal sponsor the RHA, and event sponsors Dawsongroup and Stanley Travel, the group raised more than £90,000 for Transaid’s life-saving work.

  • Day One: 132 km ride from Cork to Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city
  • Day Two: 91 km from Waterford to Carlow
  • Day Three: Final 105 km push from Carlow to Dublin

Riders enjoyed scenic views, castle ruins, and the warm atmosphere of traditional Irish pubs along the route.

Celebrating teamwork

Maddy Matheson, Head of Fundraising for Transaid, says: “Taking part in this year’s cycle challenge was an unforgettable experience for our riders, and it was fantastic to see firsthand the passion and dedication shared by all our supporters. The unrestricted funds raised from events like these allow us to launch new pilot projects that transform and save lives. A massive thank you goes out to everyone who took part this year.”

Participants represented 16 organisations from the transport and logistics industry, including:
2K Games Dublin, Asset Alliance Group, Backhouse Jones, Dawsongroup, DVV Media, Iron Mountain, IVECO, Libra Europe, MAN, Michelin, Microlise, PF Whitehead, Pulse Communications, RHA, Stanley Travel, and The Malcolm Group.

Looking Ahead: Kilimanjaro to Coast 2026

Next year the challenge returns to Africa, for a 10-day, 454 km adventure from Kilimanjaro to Pangani on the coast of Tanzania, travelling through small farm towns and municipalities, as well as a stop at the stunning Irente Viewpoint and Lake Jipe to experience the country’s lush green valleys, rolling hills and breathtaking vistas.

Transaid will also announce details of its 2026 UK/EU Cycle Challenge in the coming weeks.
