Announcing the Transaid Invitational: Microlise’s new golf event in aid of Transaid
We are very excited to announce a new event in Transaid’s fundraising calendar – the Transaid Invitational, organised in partnership with our corporate members Microlise. The telematics company is calling on the transport industry’s golfing community to participate in the inaugural Transaid Invitational at the JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire, on 12 September 2019.
The event will see eighteen teams gather at the tour-standard, par-72 Robin Hiseman designed course, built by JCB, the global construction equipment manufacturer. Proceeds from the day will help support Transaid’s programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.
Microlise has been a corporate supporter of Transaid since 2015, with its team participating in cycle challenges and UK events. In September last year, eight members of the Microlise team took part in Cycle Zambia, raising £40,000 in the process.
The Transaid Invitational is taking place at the JCB Golf & Country Club, a brand new tour-standard par-72 course designed to test world-class golfers and those with a more modest handicap alike. Measuring 7,303 yards from the championship tees, the magnificent course meanders through a mixture of parkland and woodland, interspersed with lakes and streams.
The JCB Golf & Country Club was recently rated as one of the top 10 most exclusive courses in the UK, and is available only to a small number of corporate members. The Transaid Invitational therefore offers a unique opportunity to play this spectacular course, as well as raising money for a good cause.
After the golfing stableford competition is completed, the day will be rounded off with a dinner, entertainment, charity auction and raffle.
Bob Harbey, Executive Director of Microlise, hopes that the Transaid Invitational will become one of the classic charity events in the transport and logistics calendar.
“The initial feedback we’ve received from customers and partners has been overwhelmingly supportive. The combination of playing at such an exclusive golf course, and of networking and enjoying a fun day out while supporting a worthwhile cause, is a win-win for our hardworking clients. We are delighted to launch the event and to continue to lend our corporate support to Transaid.”
