Almost £4,800 raised for Transaid at the 2024 BIFA Freight Service Awards
The 36th BIFA Freight Service Awards attracted more than 550 attendees to the Brewery in London yesterday, raising nearly £4,800 for Transaid through a raffle.
The awards are an opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond in the freight industry. Host James Cracknell OBE revealed the winning companies in nine categories of the awards, as well as the Apprentice of the Year and the Young Freight Forwarder.
Transaid’s Chief Executive, Caroline Barber, was invited to share updates on Transaid’s programmes and how to get involved in our work. She said: “Over the last 12 months Transaid and our partners have been busy training over 11,000 professional drivers in Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania and Ghana.
“With your help we are supporting truck drivers, bus drivers, forklift drivers, motorcycle taxi riders as well as cyclists and pedestrians across Africa.”
Caroline also shared the story of Wiseman, a child in rural Zambia who fell ill with severe malaria. Thanks to the community’s bicycle ambulance, Wiseman made a full recovery.
Caroline then shared news of Transaid’s eagerly anticipated Cork to Dublin cycle challenge taking place in September 2025- you can find further information here.
We are grateful to Steve Parker and the BIFA team for kindly hosting Transaid at the awards, and to all of the attendees for their generosity, which will help support our road safety and access to healthcare programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.
We would also like to thank BIFA, the Woodland Group, the London Freight Club, OIA Global and Simpex Express for their generous raffle prize donations.
Finally, we would like to congratulate the award winners and finalists for their outstanding achievements over the last year- find the list of winners here.
