Over £5,300 Raised for Transaid at IMHX Show!

Transaid attended the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) last week at the NEC in Birmingham, where over 20,000 Logistics and Supply Chain professionals converged to exchange ideas and discover the latest in cutting-edge technology in the sector.

IMHX 2016 marked the 3rd year of IMHX & SHD Logistics’ support for Transaid, resulting in the £10,000 fundraising target for that period being achieved and the presentation of a cheque from IMHX Director Rob Fisher and SHD Logistics Editor Peter MacLeod to Transaid CEO Gary Forster. Transaid would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the entire IMHX Team for their generous support over this period.

On the Transaid stand, the ‘Lift to Save Lives’ challenge was in full swing, raising awareness of the challenges facing the handling of vaccinations in Sub-Saharan Africa alongside Transaid’s work training forklift truck driver trainers and operators. The challenge pitted teams of exhibitors, as well as individuals and journalists against one-another, to find out who could generate the most power on a ‘Ski-Erg’ exercise machine, and in doing so move the most vaccines and ‘save the most lives’. The competition’s winning team was Zonzini, whilst Toyota Materials Handling was top of the pile in the forklift truck operators division – congratulations go to both teams! £111 was donated to Transaid’s collection buckets and a total of £1,100 was raised in the challenge, so huge thank you must go to all who took part. A special thank you must go to the teams who kindly sponsored the challenge- BITA, UniCarriers, Investec, FSDF, Doosan, Flexi Narrow Aisle, SEC Storage, Chep, SHD Logistics, KNAPP, RTITB and Schoeller Allibert.

Transaid was selected as charity partner to RTITB’s ‘International Operator of the Year 2016’ competition, which brought together some of the most talented forklift truck operators to put their skills to the test. The competition involved a Transaid-themed theory test, “Bicycle Bingo”, with a replica Bicycle Ambulance on display. Congratulations to all those who made it through to next year’s Grand Final!

On Thursday night, the annual SHD Awards was held in the VOX Resorts World, hosting Transaid as the evening’s beneficiary charity. A raffle- sponsored by Informa, Hankook Tyres, Impact Handling and BITA- was held after dinner, raising £4,125 for Transaid’s life-saving transport programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to the Life to Save Lives funds raised, a total of over £5,300 was raised for Transaid throughout the week at IMHX. Thank you so much to all of the sponsors, exhibitors, visitors and guests for their generous support and donations.

We hope to see you at IMHX in 2019!
