Thank you for helping us break our Christmas appeal record!

In October 2019 we launched our annual Christmas appeal, once again calling on individuals and transport and logistics companies to help us transform lives over the festive season.

With the appeal now over, we are thrilled to announce that we have raised an incredible £33,185. The total is almost £4,000 higher than last year’s amount, making it the most successful Christmas appeal in Transaid history.

This year, companies were once again offered a choice of Bronze, Silver and Gold supporters’ packages. In return for their contribution, companies were offered a combination of personalised e-cards and logo placement in industry publications.

We were proud to run festive ads in a record ten industry publications: Motor Transport, Commercial Motor, SHD Logistics, Forwarder, CILT Focus, UKWA Warehouse, RHA Roadway, FTA Logistics, Coach & Bus Week, and Handling & Storage Solutions. All of these publications very generously donated their ad space free of charge.

We also ran a parallel appeal aimed at individuals, raising money for the MAMaZ Against Malaria scale-up (MAM@Scale). The programme is empowering rural communities in Zambia to tackle severe malaria head-on, after its pilot recorded a staggering 96% reduction in child mortality from malaria last year. MAM@Scale is now reaching five times the number of people than the pilot, with 200 communities across Zambia now equipped to tackle severe malaria.

This year we also benefitted from an exciting match-funding opportunity, meaning that all donations made by individuals would be doubled at no extra cost to them. We are very pleased to report that we raised a total of £1,685 from individual donors. Taking the match-funding into consideration, this would be enough to buy 6 bicycle ambulances to enable communities to reach local health facilities in a suspected severe malaria case.

A huge thank you to all the incredible people and companies who made this appeal our most successful to date, from the publications who donated ad space, to the many companies and individuals who have supported us so far. We are always humbled by the generosity people show to us over the festive season, but this year we were completely blown away by the positive response we have received.
