SAHI Nairobi Summit: Advancing Motorcycle Helmet Safety in Africa
The Safe African Helmets Initiative (SAHI), supported by the FIA Foundation, aims to address motorcycle safety in sub-Saharan Africa through providing a platform for sharing experiences, discussing challenges, and building consensus on the urgent need to combat the rise in deaths and serious injuries related to motorcycle crashes. Nairobi is the second city to host SAHI, and the first with Transaid as its host having worked to enhance motorcycle helmet safety in Kenya since 2021.
This report documents topics discussed and actions agreed at the SAHI Nairobi Summit, which welcomed representatives from nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa between 7th and 9th July 2025.
