Neil is the Managing Director of Capex (UK) Ltd, a sales, commercial and marketing consultancy to the transport, logistics and fleet SME sectors. He joined the industry in 1984, initially working for a local haulage firm as an apprentice HGV mechanic and then a HGV class 1 driver, gaining experience throughout the UK, Europe, and Scandinavia. He entered management in 1996 as a business owner and has held several commercial roles since. In addition to his transport and logistics experience, between 2013 and 2015 Neil joined South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to become an On Call Firefighter. From 2014 to 2020 he was also a volunteer advanced motorcyclist for the ‘Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes’, a charity that provides a free of charge emergency courier service to the NHS and private hospitals in Yorkshire. Neil is married with three children and keeps active as a novice white water kayaker and loves cycle touring, having cycled from Geneve to Rhodes in 2009, and more recently a four day tour on the Yorkshire Dales cycleway, a five day tour of the Peak District, a four day tour of the north Norfolk coast, and a failed attempt at the coast to coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth when his mate slipped and dislocated his shoulder on the start line. He is very much looking forward to Cycle Malawi in 2022 and embracing the Ambassador role.
