Trek Ethiopia 2011

Transaid Africa Challenge:
Trek Ethiopia 4th – 12th February 2011

Until now Transaid’s Africa Challenges only took the form of cycle challenges. So as not to leave any willing participants out, Transaid would now like to introduce the first ever Trek! There is now an opportunity for everyone to take part in a Transaid challenge and have an adventure of a life time! 

 

The trip will take place from the 4th to the 12th February 2011, trekking over 60km through the spectacular scenery of Ethiopia. Starting in Addis Ababa you will trail though dramatic landscapes, be in awe of Simien Mountains, and observe some of Africa's most famous animals and birds, finishing in the historical town of Gonder.

 

This really is a fantastic opportunity to do something different whilst raising money for Transaid's vital work in Africa. The challenge is for people with a reasonable level of fitness and some training will be required. However with support and advice from Transaid you will be in great shape to take on your adventure! Not only will Transaid help you to hit your training targets, we encourage and advise you on how to maximise your fundraising.

Cost of the trip:

Route A: £299 registration fee plus £3,000 minimum sponsorship. 

Route B: Alternatively you can choose to pay £1500 which covers the cost of your place on the trip which can be paid in installments. Additionally you will need to pay your £299 registration fee. This will leave you to raise the minimum sponsorship of £1,500.


Included in the cost:

  1. Flights
  2. Airport taxes to the value of £300*
  3. Transfers in country
  4. Accommodation
  5. All food and water (except lunch on day 8)
  6. Tour guide and doctor for duration of trip.

 

Not included:

  1. Visa (approximately £40)
  2. Vaccinations and anti-malarials
  3. Travel insurance Optional tours Additional spending money
  4. Any airport taxes in excess of £300*


*Please note: Transaid will be invoiced for airport taxes 10 weeks prior to departure as these are subject to change until final flights are fully confirmed.  Transaid will inform all participants if airport taxes are likely to exceed £300 and will ask participants to contribute towards this excess if required. Airport taxes are currently estimated at £236 so should be fully covered by the registration fee and minimum sponsorship unless there is a significant jump in price in price between now and November 2010.
