Transaid the Beneficiary of Truckfest 25th Anniversary

Since its first edition 25 years ago the Truckfest has bring together thousands of truck lovers from within and outside the transport industry.
This year event had a special flavour as it marked a quarter of century of Truckfests. This occasion was celebrated with a special gala dinner held at Burghley House, a magical place near Stanford.

Transaid was delighted with the invitation from Truckfest directors Bob Limming and Colin Ward and Commercial Motor editor in chief Brian Weatherley to be the beneficiary of the celebratory dinner.

It was an excellent evening superbly hosted by Bob Limming. The guests had great fun throughout. The selection of 100 ‘old friends’ of the Truckfest, included many existing Transaid members and supporters including IVECO, Michelin and DAF.

A number of the speeches highlighted the importance of Transaid work. Sally Boazman (Traffic) spoke of the Transaid Cycle Kenya Challenge 2007 in which she will be taking part.

Following were two days of amazing displays and dazzling vehicles, during which Driver Hire Nationwide raised £300 for Transaid on their stand.

Chris Saunders, Transaid's CEO, comments: "The name says it all, Truckfest is for the enthusiast, for the drivers and operators who want to see the best there is to offer on the road.  We are obviously delighted that on the 25th Anniversary of Truckfest the organisers, sponsors and supporters raised over £2,550 for Transaid. It's appropriate that we should put this money towards the work we are doing in Zambia and Malawi to train trainers of professional drivers which is all part of our work to develop the professional base for the transport industry in Africa.  The money raised for this project will have a real and practical impact."
