Our November Supporters of the Month are Transport News magazine and Iveco, for their tremendous fundraising efforts at the annual Transport News Rewards Breakfast in Glasgow.
The Rewards have become an annual institution and over 600 guests gathered to honour the best in the Scottish transport business, and gain an insight into the work that the industry helps Transaid to achieve.
Transport News editor Alistair Vallance presented a short film on our work in Sri Lanka where our partner organisation Sarvodaya has benefited from the donation of an Iveco Euro Trakker, along with technical assistance and training, to assist with the post-tsunami rebuilding work.
Guests were inspired to dig deep in their pockets for the table draw, although the the chance to win an amazing visit to the Ferrari Factory in Italy, courtesy of Iveco, was also a big incentive!
The event raised an amazing £5,000 and Gray and Adams’ David Purvis, pictured above with Chris Saunders, Transaid CEO (left) and Chris Thorneycroft-Smith, Iveco MD (right), walked away with the trip for two.
Thank you to Transport News and Iveco for inviting us to be part of the Rewards, and making it such a special morning for us.
It has been a busy couple of months for us north of the border, and a big thank you must also go to CILT for allowing us to benefit from their Scottish Regional Annual Dinner. A fantastic range of prizes were on offer this year, and £2,250 was raised. Thank you to David Reid for organizing the event and thinking of us once again, and to everyone who donated prizes and entered the draw.
CILT UK also ran a draw at its Annual Awards of Excellence, with guests contributing £2,450 to win a Land Rover Driving Experience, kindly donated by Jaguar and Land Rover.
And bringing the total raised through events to over £13,000 in recent months, a big thank you to our friends at Pall-Ex, whose annual Golf Day raised £4,000.
We know how much effort goes into events like these, and are grateful to all the organisers and guests for giving us such a warm welcome. Apart from the huge pleasure of accepting the money raised, it's also a great privilege to attend them and to meet so many of our supporters.
