July’s supporter of the month is Barclays Transport & Logistics Team, who have sponsored The Transaid Challenge and allowed us to bring some of the challenges of delivering healthcare in Africa to life on your desktop!
Simon Howe, Relationship Director with the Barclays Transport & Logistics Team, explains how he got involved, and more about the challenge.
“We started to talk about how we could work together and identified that, although Transaid already enjoyed support from a lot of our clients and potential clients, it needed to tell more people about its work in a fun and interactive way. So we were very pleased to enable them to launch The Transaid Challenge, an online game that puts you in the driving seat of a health service vehicle in Africa. You have to negotiate some tricky terrain, and find the best route to reach as many villages as possible with vital services like vaccinations and home care.”
“We hope that the challenge will leave players thinking about some of the obstacles to healthcare delivery in Africa, and highlight the importance of good driving skills, route planning and planned preventive maintenance, all things that Transaid tackles through its Transport Management System.”
What's more, if you sign-up for our e-newsletter after taking The Transaid Challenge, you’ll have a chance to win a pair of Barclays Premiership tickets or a weekend at the 5* Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London.
The game was launched at the Barclays sponsored CILT Logistics Event at the end of June, and is available to play online now.
(The Transaid Challenge requires Macromedia Flash to run. If you are unable to run or play the game, you can read a narrative description of the Transaid Challenge, what it demonstrates, and how to enter the prize draw by clicking here.)
