2006 ended with our successful Motor Transport magazine Christmas Appeal, and we'd like to thank all the companies that helped us to raise an amazing £26,300:
Amethyst Group, ATMS, Bandvulc Tyres, Bibby Distribution, BRS, CVF Commercial Vehicle Finance, Cardinal Maritime, Christian Salvesen plc, Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (UK), Clipper Group, DAF Trucks, Exeno Yamamizu, Freightliner, Garnett Keeler, GB Fleetcare, Glen Recruitment, the Go-Ahead Group, the Institution of Highways and Transportation, Integrated Transport Planning, Iveco, JMP Consulting, Key3 Partners, MAN ERF, Mayer Brown Rowe and Maw, Michelin, O’Connor Transport, Pall-Ex, Paul Davis Freight Services, Road Haulage Association, Royal Mail, S&B Training, sbh.uk, Schmitz Cargobull, Suttons Transport Group, Teleroute, The Stiller Group, Variation, Volvo Truck and Bus and Wallenius Wilhelmsen.
A customised e-Card was on offer to those who donated, and those who gave over £500 also saw their logos appear in a special Seasons’ Greetings ad in Motor Transport magazine.
In our appeal, we highlighted the problems of female market traders in Ghana, who are forced to rely on unsuitable, expensive methods of transport to get their goods to market, which can eat up 8 hours of their day and 40% of their income and deprive them of the time and money to care and provide for their families. We are delighted to say that, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our project to equip them with the skills and knowledge to control their own transport operations can now get underway, beginning in January with business planning training for the women.
