After the success of previous trips to Tanzania, Zambia and Kenya Transaid launched its next overseas cycling challenge! This time participants will ride across the north east of the incredible island of Madagascar, pass remote villages, paddy fields and tropical fruit plantations.
We will explore the spectacular island's parks, admire diversity of plants and animals and look for magical chameleons, lemurs and iconic reptiles. Cycle Madagascar Challenge will take nine days during which you will cycle almost 500 km.
You will have the opportunity to visit Transaid's project in Madagascar focused on improving access to basic, quality health care for woman and children from rural communities. It will give you first-hand understanding of country's biggest needs as well as knowledge of Transaid's work.
Funds raised from Cycle Madagascar will benefit the charity’s Professional Driver Training Project, which aims to improve driving safety standards in sub-Saharan Africa. Road crashes in this region are the third-highest cause of premature death after HIV/AIDS and malaria, and which the World Health Organisation estimates could take over as the primary cause of death and disability by 2020. Funds will also benefit programmes reducing maternal and child mortality rates in sub-Saharan Africa and improving access to health in rural areas. Spaces are limited so sign up now! What participants of previous challenges said... “Cycle Tanzania was the hardest but best experience of my life…” “Cycle for me meant learning about a beautiful and amazing country, which I probably wouldn’t have otherwise, and learning new things about myself as well: that I have the strength and the determination to do anything I want, while helping others…”
