Other than our corporate supporters, Transaid works with a number of local and international partners to execute projects. Transaid believes that building strong partnerships with both local and international partners is very important to ensure project success and build local capacity. Local Partners
Disacare – Zambia
Transaid partnered with Disacare, a Zambian NGO based in Lusaka, to implement the Eastern Province Bicycle Ambulance Project. Disacare offers training in wheelchair technology, repair and manufacture durable mobility aids for persons with physical disabilities in Zambia.
Industrial Training Centre Trust – Zambia
Transaid has been involved with ITCT for almost 10 years to support the development of improved professional driver training standards for commercial truck drivers.
GRSP Zambia
Transaid are working closely with the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) Zambia to make the roads of Zambia safer. The GRSP Zambia is bringing together governments and governmental agencies, the private sector and civil society organisations to address road safety issues and design effective interventions. Transaid's Zambia Programme Officer - Victor Simfukwe is currently chairing a subcommittee within GRSP Zambia focusing on Fleet Management issues.
Society for Family Health – Nigeria
In conjunction with Society for Family Health in Nigeria, Transaid is supporting the execution of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded Maternal Health Learning Project in Gombe State. Transaid is specifically looking at the issue of patient referral in rural areas.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Pakistan
The CILT Pakistan is the professional body for the transport and logistics industry in the country. Transaid and CILT Pakistan’s Lahore Section are developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU will outline a partnership between the two organisations which will combine Transaid’s development experience and the CILT’s high level of professional competence to support development projects in Pakistan, particularly in the health and road transport sectors.
International Partners
I+Solutions
Formerly known as IDA Solutions, I+Solutions have partnered with Transaid to conduct a national transport assessment in preparation for the arrival and distribution of approximately $250 million dollars of malaria commodities including bed nets, anti-malarials and testing kits funded by the Global Fund.
Health Partners International
Transaid is providing technical assistance for the transport and logistics components of the Partnership for Reviving Routine Immunization in Northern Nigeria (PRRINN) and Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Project. Health Partners International leads the joint venture partnership that manages PRRINN and MNCH.
John Snow International
JSI recently recruited Transaid’s expertise to develop a self training manual for Transport Officers in public health organisations.
Merlin
Merlin is a medical charity driven by one aim: to provide health care for people at times when they are most in need. Throughout September 2009 Transaid provided pro bono support to Merlin to help strengthen their existing fleet management system and policy.
The International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD)
The IFRTD is a global network of individuals and organisations that works to improve access, mobility and economic opportunities for communities in the developing world.
Department for International Development
DfID has contracted Transaid to undertake work in many countries including Zambia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Nepal, India, Malawi and South Africa.
The Danish International Development Agency
DANIDA contracted Transaid to undertake Fleet Management with the Ministry of Health in Coast and North-Eastern Province, Kenya, in addition to an operational assessment of provincial transport management in Mozambique.
The Canadian International Development Agency
CIDA provided the funding for the Transaid Bicycle Ambulance Project conducted in Eastern Province, Zambia.
