We were very saddened to learn on Sunday 19th February that Peter Huntley, a loyal friend and supporter of Transaid, and the former Managing Director of regional bus operator Go North East, had died in a tragic climbing accident in the Lake District.
As many of our supporters will know, Peter had been aiming to raise £10,000 for Transaid this year, with a planned trek from Russia to the Arctic circle on 3 April 2012.
Peter’s family have updated his JustGiving page to reflect the tragic events at the weekend and have stated that they hope those who had already sponsored Peter will continue with their commitment to the charity in his name.
On behalf of the entire Transaid team, both at home and in Africa, we thank Peter for his tireless work in support of Transaid over the years and our thoughts remain firmly with his family at this very difficult time.
