MICHELIN MAN SHRINKS FOR PIN BADGE APPEAL

  • Michelin has worked with transport and logistics charity Transaid to design a set of four exclusive charity pin badges featuring the Michelin Man character.

The badges are available from ATS Euromaster service centres across the UK for a suggested donation of just £1 each. Those who donate to Transaid direct will also receive a badge as a thank you.

Transaid fights poverty in Africa by improving the way that transport is managed, enabling more people to access healthcare, education and opportunities to make a living.

The four designs reflect Transaid’s work and all proceeds will help the charity to make travel safer, more efficient and affordable for the world’s poorest people.

“Michelin is a Founder Member of Transaid and is committed to improving mobility alongside road safety,” explains Peter Snelling, Michelin’s Head of Communications.

“We’re proud that, in our UK centenary year, we can use the brand to do something for a charity that shares these values.”

The launch of the badges marks one of the rare occasions that Michelin has allowed the character to be used by a third party.    There are thousands of Michelin memorabilia collectors around the world and the badges will be highly sought after, as well as making great stocking fillers for Christmas.

“The Michelin Man is one of the most instantly recognisable and best loved icons in the world,” adds Caroline Beaumont, Transaid’s Head of Marketing.

“It’s a great privilege to be able to use the character to fundraise, and we’re sure that the badges will be a huge hit.”
