ALLIANCE AND LEICESTER TO SUPPORT TRANSAID
Alliance and Leicester Commercial Bank, based in Manchester, are the latest to climb aboard as members of international development charity Transaid and will be helping them to reduce poverty in Africa through better managed, safer and more efficient transport.
Through a fixed annual donation and employee fundraising, Alliance and Leicester will provide vital support to Transaid - which often also draws upon its members to provide skills, expertise and fundraising towards specific life changing projects across the developing world.
“Everyone needs transport to exist. Transport delivers the essentials for everyday life: health, education and the ability to earn a living. But in many of the poorest regions of the world, access to transport is poor or non-existent.
Better managed resources can substantially reduce transport costs and can lead to a significantly improved quality of living for many of the poorest families across the developed world” explains Chris Saunders, CEO of Transaid.
He adds, “The core support we receive from members is fundamental to our continued growth and aims, ensuring that transport solutions are sustainable for the future. Transaid is the vital link to development which is often missed and we are thrilled to have the support of a major bank such as Alliance and Leicester and for them to recognise the importance of the work we are doing.”
