The CILT Nations, Regions and Groups handed over a cheque for £3 614.80 to Transaid. The institute's initiative supported charity's bicycle ambulance project in African countries.
Back in January 2010, the CILT Nations, Regions and Groups were challenged to raise funds in support of Transaid's bicycle ambulance project in Africa. Various fundraising activities were undertaken accross the country in order to collect funds in support of Transaid's work. During a National/Regional Co-ordination Committee meeting a cheque for more than £3 000 was handed over to Transaid, signyfying the culmination of the Nation's and Regions' efforts. Transaid bicycle ambulances provide a way for people in remote villages in developiing countries to access vital healthcare they would not otherwise be able to reach.
Following on the success of the bicycle ambulance project in Zambia, Transaid is working with the local organisation in Malawi, helping to set up a similar scheme. To learn more about Transaid project in Landirani in Malawi click here.
